The Leadership Programme

 

Course Outline

 

The Leadership Programme offers a non-traditional approach to leadership development that begins by inviting the participants to set the agenda.

During the first session, the participants define the style of leadership they most aspire to. We build a picture of the ideal leader in your organisation through asking questions like:

- How do the most effective leaders in this organisation behave?

- How do I want to behave as a leader?
- Which role models inspire me most?
- What legacy do I want to leave when I move on?

Looking at this picture of the ideal leader, the participants then discuss the areas where they themselves most want to improve. Agreement on these defines the agenda for the rest of the programme and ensures their fullest commitment to the personal change process.

In subsequent sessions we address the priority improvement areas one by one, using highly participative processes designed to engage the participants in experiential learning. Corporate messages and frameworks are easily weaved in to the content.

The Leadership Programme is usually delivered in a multi-day format spread out over several months. The total number of days is set as a function of the participant needs and the available budget.

The instructional style is Socratic or master-class based: participants answer many of their own questions through group dialogue. The facilitator’s role is to structure the discussion, introduce models, frameworks and expert advice as appropriate and provide form and feedback during the practice sessions.
